FLUX 2011 prize-winners

The two transport hubs Renens (Vaud) and Wil (St. Gallen) are this year’s winners of the "FLUX – golden transport hub". The systematic preference which these two transport hubs have displayed towards human-powered mobility distinguishes them from the other transport hubs.

For the first time in its history, the jury has chosen two transport nodes: the transport hub in Renens (Vaud) and the transport hub in Wil (St. Gallen). Despite many similarities, the five finalists have differed significantly in relation to design aspirations and project status. Overall, Renens (Vaud) and Wil (St. Gallen) performed the best. The visible intention of the two municipalities to actively participate and to promote the development makes these two transport hubs stand out.

On one side, the city of Wil, by continuously investing in its transport hub, has worked tirelessly to optimise its offering in relation to human-powered mobility. On the other side, the municipalities of the Renens station in the Lausanne conurbation have dared a complete re-design, including the surrounding squares. The systematic preference which was given to human-powered mobility by the two transport hubs distinguishes them from the other finalists.
