OSTWIND – one ticket for everything

From 1 June 2009, you can use the new fare zoning system to travel around the entire OSTWIND area. Switzerland's largest fare partnership covers the cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau and both Appenzells. As an important partner, PostBus is making a major contribution to the success of the new zoning system.

It's really handy –  from 1 June 2009, you can switch to the zone fares across the entire OSTWIND area. Fares are no longer calculated by route, but by zone. Your ticket will in future be valid in all the zones you require for your journey.

Wherever you want, with whoever you want, as often as you want

Within the zones for which you've bought a ticket, all means of public transport are included in the price. You can use the Postbus, the train or the bus in any order you want. And for as long as the ticket's valid, you can travel wherever you want within the zones, as often as you want. It's a system that's customer friendly, easy to use and transparent.

Day passes

Day passes are replacing the existing "return tickets" for return journeys on the same route. They're valid until 5 a.m. the following day, and so are ideal for night owls too. If you just want to do one short return journey, the new two-journey ticket is ideal.  For day-trippers who'd like to use the boats on Lake Constance or the Walensee or who'd like to travel to Winterthur or Schaffhausen, there's the "day pass plus".

Sales and advice

You can obtain OSTWIND tickets from drivers and at all ticket sales offices and ticket machines in the cantons of St. Gallen, Thurgau and both Appenzells in eastern Switzerland. You can get advice from those post offices that sell tickets. These are all located on Postbus routes. (See "More information" for a list of ticket sales offices).
